Features for Doctors & Nurses
Instant-on desktop
- Users are signed in and working in their own personal and secure desktop in 3 seconds** or less in the real world. No waiting for long load/logon times.
Single Sign-On
- Workspace reduces the number of user names and passwords a user needs to remember to one. Automatic password rollover and self-service capabilities mean that users do not need to remember multiple passwords and can easily reset their passwords if needed. This facilitates user access to all their applications.
Application Auto-Launch
- Part of the login process can be to automatically launch the user's most common application. In the case of the EHR, Workspace can launch them several layers deep to the menu or screen where they spend most of their time. This means that the desktop is truly ready to input patient information as soon as the user walks up to the computer.
Tap & Go
- Workspace can leverage the hospital's existing HID, smartcard or prox-card technology to give the user an alternative to usernames and passwords. Once the user initially logs in, they just tap their card for each successive login. From then on, they just Tap & Go until required to re-enter their password.
Instant-disconnect desktop
- When a clinician gets called away, a single hot-key or presence detector instantly disconnects and suspends the user session in mid-keystroke, allowing the patient data to be completely secure while the user's session is kept alive and ready for re-connect at any device the user goes to next. (Roaming )
Kiosk Functionality
- Using endpoint virtualization, physicians, clinicians, case workers, and other healthcare employees can utilize the same workstation in rapid succession, even in high-traffic kiosk areas, without repeatedly entering their login credentials. For your units like the ED or PACU where space and time are at a premium, the users are in and out as fast as they can get out of each other's way.
Session Mobility, a.k.a. Roaming Desktops
- The real world workflow of doctors, nurses and case workers is one of constant movement. With Symantec Workspace, their desktop will follow the user in mid-keystroke so that they do not have to start all over again simply because they stepped away to care for a patient.
Familiar, follow-me workspace
- Endpoint virtualization provides each user with a secure, personalized desktop that roams with the user throughout the hospital from device to device. The "follow-me" workspace provides a consistent, familiar experience, regardless of the device being used and whether access is local or remote. Endpoint virtualization brings users directly to their own workspace regardless of physical location.
No-hassle printing
- With proximity printing capabilities, users can print locally even when roaming, eliminating the hassle of tracking down printers and worrying about sensitive patient data printing to the wrong place.
Reliable remote access
- Physicians can work remotely at their convenience, confident that their connection will always be reliable and that their personalized workspace will appear and function exactly as it does when they are in the hospital. This is all through a completely secure, 128 bit encrypted connection using a standard Internet Explorer browser from their home or office.
