Innovative Medical Systems Inc. (IMS) has been providing displays to the medical marketplace since 1988. Over that time the requirements of the hospital user have changed dramatically.  With the advent of electronic image storage, the ability to retrieve and display information has improved many-fold.

One of the primary requests has been for ever larger flat screen displays for use in the medical environment. This typically brings to the forefront several questions and areas of concern that must be addressed.

  • Is the display going to be used within one meter of a patient?
  • Does it need to meet IEC 60601-1 electrical parameters?
  • Does the display have to have a low voltage and\or remote power supply?
  • How \ where will the display be mounted? Does the mount meet UL specs?
  • How will the display be cleaned? With what type of disinfectants?
